| Past Captain Ann Parry pulled out all the stops to record perhaps a surprise win against Claire Howells. Claire, not on her usual form, was naturally disappointed not to reach the last eight.
Charlotte Dalton birdied the first to take an early lead against Rachel Rusted and continued her onslaught by playing to level par. Have you any comment to make Charlotte was asked 'just nice and steady' she replied.
Liz Galland, returning to County golf having played as a junior, hit the ball really well from tee to green to overcome a previous champion ,Marsha Button, 3 and 2.
Lisa Barton beat Sue Jones 6 and 5 and commented 'I played well and am looking forward to doing the same again this afternoon'
Elizabeth Haycock (17) taking part for the first time in the Championships started well and was 2up at the turn. Her putting then deserted her and she fell victim to the experienced Liz Moverley.
Hannah Coles could only empathise with Elizabeth as this part of her game stopped her from progressing further in the championship going down to Kath Ashley by 2 holes.
First timer Annabel Tubey (Ladbrook Park) was delighted to qualify but found herself pitted against Sue Westall who won the Championship when it was last held at Leamington & County GC back in 1995. A close match ended with Sue winning 3 and 2.

followed at 9.15am by the young Charlotte Dalton taking on the more experienced Lisa Barton. A very interesting morning of golf is in prospect with the ultimate prize of making the final at stake. All four will be resting their weary legs tonight in order to do themselves justice in the morning. If you are free come along and watch the final stages of our County Championship unfold.
