Abbey had had convincing wins in the two earlier rounds but this closely contested match proved to be the hardest so far in her bid to retain the title for the third year. Abbey started with a birdie to win the first hole. The match drew level with Charlotte getting a good par on the difficult par 4 second. Thereafter birdies were the order of the day if the hole was to be won; Charlotte sinking her putt at 4th for a birdie, and Abbey getting a birdie on the par 5 seventh. After nine holes Abbey was 1 up. The 11th and 12th were halved with both players missing birdie chances at 11th and Charlotte missing a further birdie chance at 12th. Abbey won 14th with yet another birdie but then lost the par three 15th when a freak gust of wind blew her hat off causing her to miss-hit her tee shot and land short of the green. Charlotte went into a bunker on 16th allowing Abbey to go 2 up with 2 holes to play. The pressure was then on for Charlotte, Abbey having already put her second shot on 17th safely on the green, but it was not to be; her shot clipped a tree and landed in the bunker.

The second match saw Elizabeth Galland (The Warwickshire) playing first-timer and 14 year-old Hannah McLoughlin (Sutton Coldfield Ladies). The front nine proved to be very close with some excellent play, but Liz edged ahead going two up after nine. Hannah won 13th leaving Liz one up coming down the par five 18th. Both players had good drives; Hannah opted to lay-up with her second shot but Liz went for the green. Hannah secured her five having put her third shot safely on the green to win the hole and take the match down the 19th. Playing the first again, Liz, having been over the back of the green for two, chipped to within 10' but missed her birdie putt. On to the 20th! Both players had long tee shots, Hannah opted to lay-up short of the brook but Liz, being in the middle of the fairway, put her second shot on the green and secured her par, after leaving her first putt 12feet above the hole, to win the match.
