Warwickshire played at Woburn for an 18 hole fixture two weeks ago, in our annual final pre-season friendly match against BB&O.
The incredibly tight Duchess course was the challenge that faced us as we attempted to beat a BB&O side who all had plus handicaps. James Smith and Dave Westwood led out at pair one and registered a 2&1 win. Louis Meryon and Richard Oddy were in birdie mode despite a few visits into the fir trees and closed their game on the last courtesy of a classy Oddy chip.
Tom Ibbertson and Rob Browning encountered too many of the pine trees and eventually succumbed at the last and Harry Ibbertson and Jake Scott found their young opposition too hot and lost 2&1. Overall a 2-2 draw away at a very tricky venue against a side that featured a number of classy players was a very strong performance and should give us great confidence for the upcoming season.
We play our final friendly match which is the new Over 25?s v Under 25?s at Olton on Sunday.
You are most welcome to come along to Olton on the 21st, to see our Counties finest golfers playing in the Amateur.
