The match was a very close encounter the result only being determined by the last match out.

We started the morning session with the foursomes. It was interesting to hear the starter warning the lads not to scare the racehorses as our match was taking place on the same day as Uttoxeter races, the race course running alongside the golf course.

Nathan Ray and Michael Pell started the foursomes for Warwickshire with a 3&2 win.George Butler and Chris Fisher lost 2&1.George Allen and Robert Owens won 1up, and Louie Pett and Jake Clorley lost 4&3.

The under 14's where lead out by Rhys Lawrence and Daniel Lane who won 2&1 followed by Tom Jones and Joel Palsar who lost 2&1. So the foursomes ended all even at 3-3.

The afternoon singles started with everything to play for-Nathan went first for Warwickshire and lost 3&2. I think he had half an eye on his football team (Newcastle United) and we know what happened to them.

Michael Pell halved his match. George Butler, Chris Fisher, and George Allen all lost, George Allen's chip shot at the last hitting the flagstick which if it had gone in would have given us an important halve.

Robert won his match, Louie lost and Jake won his match at the last holing a brave 6 foot putt.

At this stage in the match we where 3 behind with only 4 games left, all the under 14s. The under 14's did us proud with Rhys, Daniel and Tom all winning, so it was all down to the very last match and although Joel battled bravely to the end he lost 2&1.

Final Result Staffs 9.5 Warwickshire 8.5.
