Warwickshire Boys v S and H Venue : Wrekin golf club

For this match Warwickshire were able to field the strongest team

so far this season and the result reflected this strength in depth.

On a sunny but windy day, the Wrekin course tested both teams with fast greens and pins in tricky places.

The morning foursomes produced some excellent results :

Jamie Carney and Tom Ibbertson won 4/2, Adam Ferraro and Rob gave up a lead on 3 up on the back 9 and needed to win the last for a half, which they duly did. Harry Ibbertson and Nathan Ray won, followed by a win for Michael McCormack partnering Michael Pell for the first time and Will Smith partnering ?rooky? George Allen also recording a win.

Taking a lead of four points into the afternoon, Jamie led off and won convincingly along with Tom Ibbertson, Adam Ferrraro, and Harry Ibbertson.. Rob Holland played 5 and again had to win the last to get a half. Then came Michael McCormack, Nathan Ray and Michael Pell recording wins of their own.

George Allen was feeling the effect of the added pressure of playing in the Boys team and unfortunately lost his match. He will benefit from this experience. Will Smith played 'anchor man' successfully and gave Warwickshire the final point for a 13 to 2 win.

Warwickshire Boys v Derbyshire Venue : Purley Chase Golf club

This was a rearranged match called off because of a waterlogged course.

Thankfully we were lucky this time round and the course was back to normal for this time of year.

The morning foursomes produced some excellent results:

Jamie Carney and Tom Ibbertson won a close match on the 18th hole, having won the last three.

Adam Ferraro and Rob Holland lost 3/2 and Harry Ibbertson and Nathan Ray won 1up. The partnership of Sam Teather and Will Smith produced a convincing win 6/5. For George Allen and Rob Owens the story on the back nine was extraordinary.

With 6 to play, they were 5 down. A long putt on the next hole sparked a recovery and they won the next five holes leaving the result open until the last putt on the last hole. A good half by this pair left us 3 ? to 1 ? for the afternoon matches.

Jamie led off in the afternoon and won convincingly 4/3 as did Adam Ferraro. Tom Ibbertson dug out a half and his brother Harry had a solid win. Nathan Ray, Sam Teather and Rob Holland didn?t have the best of days, but Robert Owens came good with the best win of the day 7/5. George lost 1 down, but it could have gone the other way. Will Smith finished the year well with a 3/2 win.

The final result - 8.5-6.5 to Warwickshire
