TaylorMade Adidas are back in town
Demo days hit the De Vere Belfry pretty regularly and your own club may well have a few visits from the travelling teams all the major manufacturers send out so that you can test lots of different product ... before you buy. The simplest form of the demo is when your Pro has test clubs, something that a big percentage of golfers will demand before they consider what can be a few hundred pounds of commitment to improving a golf game.

What TaylorMade Adidas have looked at is making the demo day as special as it can be. Custom fitting is almost de rigeur for a premium club buyer so if a demo day can link with a facility to accurately measure the performance of an individual golfer, the try to buy chain is much more complete. That s not to ignore that you can actually go to a demo day and try virtually every set up of a club (look out for the numerous bags jammed full of driver, irons and wedges in our pictures) and with so much to choose from, you can find that special club all on your own.

With the new teaching academy finished in time for this year s (the last) B&H, TMA had a state of the art custom fitting centre to go with one of the best driving ranges and practice grounds around. To complete an ethic of making the day as special as it can be, they bought along the TaylorMade Adidas Tour truck, great to look around but most importantly, offering the ability for a golfer to try, to be measured for and to actually take delivery of their new clubs all on the same day.

The glue that sticks the shafts of your clubs into the heads is space age stuff, taking just seconds to dry fully. For this special demo day, the Tour club fitters were given the day off (a pretty rare occasion from late April right through to early November) and they were replaced by the fit and build team from the TMA factory, more than able replacements who were eager and very ready to offer the best service possible.

The result of all this? Over 200 people came along and tried clubs, there were 50+ bookings for custom fitting and the same number walked away with brand new irons and woods, ready to knock their games into better shape. The TMA team were more than happy with the response. In particular there was a lot of interest in the Rescue Mid and V Steel clubs as well as the new XD drivers. It is an impressive level of service to go with all the investment that TaylorMade Adidas have put into the actual clubs and kit.

As a company, they have a very big market share and hold No 1 counts for just about everything on all the Pro Tours. Darren Clarke made the decision to join the TM Tour team at the start of this year and with his World Championship win at Akron, his commitment to making the very most of his talents has already bought very good progress. Clarke is making swing changes, a commitment to fitness and has the phone number of every top guru for the game as he pushes toward a major (or two). If there was one thing missing from this demo day, its the expert counsellor, the teacher and psychologist, who can reassure a golfer that great clubs needs a great swing to make the most of any golf game. So hows about having Darren, maybe Sergio and Retief, and the odd top teacher there so that us everyday golfers know exactly what we should be aiming for? We all dream of being out there, on the Tour, and when we stand over that final shot to win the British Open (in our dreams), lots of hands rest on a TM bag then go to choose a TM club .......
