| The team for the match against Notts is from the following players Chris Evans (Maxstoke), Jak Hamblett (Handsworth), Sam Foster (Hearsall), Chris Hazeldine (Moor Hall), Dale Marson (Rugby), Neil Taylor (Rugby), Andy Evans (Maxstoke), Ed Hull (Ladbrook), Alex Rodman (Copt Heath), Chris Dougill (Stoneleigh).
The team will play foursomes in the morning, then ten singles, to decide the Midland League for this year. If you come along to watch, matches follow each other and Kenilworth has a number of loops of holes so you can take in the atmosphere as it happens.
This is the first year that there has been a JoM Championship. There are 3000 JoM points available to the winner (of the Championship) and all the points scored at the JoM Championship will be added to the present Order of Merit totals to produce the final JOM table. At present Chris Evans has a substantial lead (because of achievements which include winning the Midland Boys Championship) and he will retain his JoM No 1 title if he comes 5th or better.
The Starting Sheet for the JoM Championship will appear here on Wednesday 22nd October.
The race for the Runner-up place is much more open and anyone of a dozen or so Warwickshire Juniors could take that prize. No player will have home advantage as through the support of Mark Harrhy, owner of the West Midlands Golf Club, the JoM Championship will be played over the very well conditioned new course. Mark will present the prizes for JoM Championship after which Tony Redding will present the prizes for the JoM itself - all this will be after the golf though.
Playing in reverse JoM placings, the first players will tee off at 10 am. Chris Evans will be the last to play at around 11am and it should all be over at 3pm with the prize presentation following immediately afterwards. Spectators will be very welcome and you can read a full write-up in the Coventry Evening Telegraph next Thursday, the day of the League decider.
For the JoM, and the Championship, there will be over £750 of prizes, very generously supported by TaylorMade Adidas Golf, and the 2003 JoM is sponsored by Stratford Consulting. You can see exactly how each of the top 24 players qualified for this years Championship and the full JoM Tables by clicking the button left and then clicking on each players name.
These Top 24 golfers are playing under very similar circumstances to the European Tour stars who will be at the Volvo Andalucia Masters next week. We will be at the Volvo Masters, reporting every night, and in a few years time, we could be there telling you about one of these guys success at the climax of the European Tour season. For the first week in November, the Tour moves to El Saler, and the Seve Trophy. If one of this years Warwickshire Juniors does well in a career as a Pro, they could be competing for GB and Ireland in the odd years ... and maybe the Ryder Cup in the evens. See the stars of tomorrow today.
