| As ever, the AGM was very well attended. Each member of the Committee gave a report, to go with a number of handouts provided for each delegate. The paperwork concerned changes to handicap systems and details of a number of competitions - make sure your Competitions Secretary displays all the information that was presented and look out especially for the Rosebud Pro-Am which returns next year with qualifying, and the finals in 2003.
The reports were started by Marsha Button, retiring County Captain. Through Marsha s Captaincy, Warwickshire were very successful, notably in 2002. There were very warm words of thanks to Marsha throughout, and in accepting the position, Pat Hale made some very funny references to her research of the characteristics Bears (our County symbol) to show how much Marsha s pride in the County and attention to detail had produced two excellent years, work very ably supported by all the endeavours of the WLCGA Committee.
There was much mention also of how successful Warwickshire Juniors have been, in the shape of the talents of Felicity Johnson and Hannah Coles, and of the very young golfers who are very ready to take our two stars places. Presentations were made of the two teams trophies and the salvers for the Runners-up.
The changes for handicaps under the CONGU system were outlined in detail and Clubs were urged to make sure, if they were not able to send a representative to the ELGA or LGU AGMs, that they completed their proxy voting cards.
To start the meeting, the Lady President of Warwickshire, Sue Westall, talked through her year and about all the people involved in the Association. The Lady President has herself had some success this year, despite injury, by coming 3rd in the British Seniors!
Mid way during the meeting, a very surprised Pam Large (Coventry) was made a life member and to finish, the Grand Draw was made and the six very nice prizes given to the lucky ticket holders. Around £1400 was raised from this first such draw, part of the very successful Marketing and PR programme run by Beth Hatwell. Beth made special reference to more stories coming from clubs, to go with all the news of County competitions and team successes. |
