| Last year, having been Runner-up for the previous two years, John Madden took the title. His fellow Walmley Member John Simpson took the Nett Trophy. Not able to defend his title was Brian Schofield but he may well play this year as he goes for a treble of wins.
One player started his first Seniors but did not finish his round due to injury. That was John Mayall, soon to become Midland Seniors Champion for 2003 and he will surely challenge Madden et al as he has bee following a rigorous fitness programme to help protect his injured hip. John Mayall is looking to become part of the England Seniors Team and will plan a full season of both Senior and ordinary Amateur golf.
Of note for form are Don Smith (Copt Heath), a past 2nd Team Captain and Peter Clifford, recently retired as Seniors Captain and always a contender. John Duncombe, just starting his second year as Seniors Captain, will have another very strong side to send out in possibly 9 matches through the season (all of which we hope will be covered by the site), including a new fixtures against the ever strong Lancashire. There will be lots of players vying for places in what is a competitive set of matches without League format including past Warwickshire President Jim Sinclair who has let his handicap slip a little from where he would want it to be.
Live scoring will be available for this Championship and entry details, including On-line entry will be here approximately one month before the Championship.
