| Nick Bradley is a leading UK golf coach whose CV has included teaching players who have won on the World’s golf tours and played in the Ryder, Walker and Solheim Cups. His PR describes him as the most innovative golf coach in the World.
There have been few golf instruction books we have seen with the number of illustrations to be found in ‘7 Laws’ – that is illustrations of how a swing should or should not work. These pictures are not a frame by frame of a complete swing, either something perfect or a swing which isn’t working properly. They are not set ups of a fault but something much better.
Page after page in ‘7 Laws’ are really superb pictures which have been superimposed with special graphics or manipulated so as to illustrate the seven specific lessons that Nick Bradley wants to pass on readers of his book. He obviously has not wanted to produce something which is a ‘tips and fixes’ catalogue, and in doing so, asking golfers to build their game around these seven fundamentals is saying to golfers ‘With this book you can become like …’ – which would have needed a Superstar Golfing Icon to be the model for the method for it to be a huge success.
The quality and the transition from each picture to the next is clever, but not a gimic. There are words and maybe Nick Bradley might consider taking ‘7 Laws’ even further by making the book a complete picture gallery with just odd comments here and there. This is how to swing in one of the best forms possible and its very well written and edited – as well as illustrated.
Including Biometrics into the book is a very positive step. Fitness and flexibility is now part of golf and will continue to integrate into the game. The model who is used to illustrate what actually happens to a golfer in a physical sense, is obviously technically very good, but its how the pictures of his movements are then overlaid or added to which makes them suitable for any golfer to understand the story they each portray.
‘7 Laws’ is excellent and should be a big success. If you buy this book expect to read and browse even past the day you’ve become a winner.
