But it's good news for money-conscious financiers who can grab C4 SHH for under £2000.

Although the top 20 features some of the most valuable numbers currently available, many can be picked up for as little as £244 as marketing manager Markerle Davis reveals,

'With almost 20 million number plates currently available at newreg.com the chances of finding the unique series of letters or numbers which are personal to you are very high.

'Generally, the fewer the letters the more valuable the registration. However the value of each plate to the customer ultimately depends on the individual - which means there are always bargains to be had.

'The registration process is quick and straight forward - we take car of everything - and the majority of plates are inexpensive.'
