| Twelve players were in attendance, divided into a morning and afternoon session with a get-together over lunch for individual photos and a team shot as well as the handing out of entry forms for Midland and National Championships where Warwickshire Ladies are sure to figure prominently.
There was also the first sight of the new 1st Stage County Week Trophy, very kindly presented by a very modest Marsha Button (the new cut glass bowl and stand does say that the trophy has been presented by Marsha buts it’s a small engraving on the base of one of the winners plates where I am sure Marsh would love to see ‘Warwickshire’ on very regular occassions).
Those players attending were – Pat Hale (County Captain), Emma Stoddart, 2004 County Champion Claire Dowling, Claire Howells, Lisa Barton, Anne Parry, Felicity Johnson, Marsha Button, Jane Mander, Hannah Coles, Kath Ashley and last but not least, the most improved Junior of 2004, Abbey Gittings. Unable to come along were County 2nds Captain Bev Belcher and Tracy Atkin.
For each group, Andy worked the squads on the ‘long short game’ – half and three quarter wedge shots. There then was a classroom session on the different methods of learning.
‘Apparently we are either an audio learner, or visual, or analytical, or Kinesetic (which means ‘touchy – feely)’, said Pat Hale.
There was no news yet of the planned (and eagerly anticipated) match between the Warwickshire Ladies and the Warwickshire Men. This will be a fourball matchplay match sometime between the County Championships and County Week.
On 10th April, Pat will gather the 8-10 players who will form the 1st team Squad for 2005 back at Stratford Oaks for another preparation session for the coming year. Bev Belcher has something similar to organise for her squad for the 2nds.
Many of you should now be able to get your copy of the WLCGA Handbook for 2005. Its full of lots of really useful information for the coming season but do remember that you don’t have to use the entry forms within the book – they are available NOW from this web site. Just look out for the Warwickshire Bear Icon with ‘Entry Forms’ underneath it.
Please come back in midweek as there is another story which may be of interest – a Warwickshire girl has just taken part in a Long Drive contest and is now a World Record holder! Do come back mid-week!
PS The main picture of the team should be big enough for it to be your computer wallpaper – do support our teams.
