HIPPO OFFER IS ONE IN A MILLION
The biggest golf club giveaway of all time is being launched in the UK to encourage further participation in the sport. An amazing £1m-worth of golf equipment is up for grabs for golfers across the country thanks to a mega deal between a golf tournament and a club manufacturer. The International Pairs, the biggest tournament in the world for club golfers, has joined forces with golf manufacturer Hippo to give a club to every single person who plays in the tournament – that could be as many as 25,000 golfers across England, Scotland and Wales - and each is eligible to claim their FREE club.

The special Hippo 60˚ lob wedge, worth £39.95, can then become the prized possession of anyone who competes in this year’s competition - all they have to do is send a cheque for £9.99 to cover postage and packaging.

And for each club sent out to International Pairs competitors the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme receives a 25p donation – so participants are effectively playing for charity as well.

Chester Hunt, owner of Hippo, said: “I am delighted that Hippo and the International Pairs are getting together to promote our clubs to so many golfers. We also hope such a promotion will actively encourage people to take up the sport.

“The International Pairs is a unique tournament which gives golfers the unrivalled chance to compete on a national and international level. Hippo is very pleased to be associated with what is the biggest tournament of its kind - and also to provide the highest quality equipment to its competitors.

“We have worked together in the past, but nothing on this scale and it’s very exciting to be involved in such a project.”

Ross Honey, chairman and founder of the International Pairs, said: “This offer makes what was already tremendous value for money even better. You pay a £5 entry fee for the competition and get a £40 golf club - no one can deny that it is a bargain.

“On top of that, there is everything we have offered in previous years, with the chance to play in a national final in Scotland - and then to represent your country at the world final.

“I am delighted to be working with Hippo. They are a leading golf equipment manufacturer and we are pleased to be giving such fine products to all of our competitors.”

The International Pairs – the largest club competition of its kind in the world - is now in its seventh year. And it’s so simple to enter.

Clubs host a qualifying event and the winning pair from the club travel to Scotland – the 2004 Golfing Destination of the Year - for a semi-final on a championship golf course, which includes complimentary accommodation and golf, with an invitation to a special Scottish-themed welcome reception.

If they make the cut they stay on in Scotland for two more days and experience the golfing event of the year at the luxurious St Andrews Bay Golf Resort & Hotel with two nights’ accommodation, two rounds of complimentary competition golf – one each on the Torrance and Devlin courses - the championship gala dinner and the chance to win the coveted International Pairs title and progress to the 2006 world final, representing their country.

On top of all that, competitors are also entitled to take advantage of myriad special offers from the event’s sponsors and partners – not a bad return for a £5 investment.
