BEST WESTERN HOTELS ANNOUNCES DATES FOR SENIOR AMATEUR MASTERS GOLF TOURNAMENT
Following the phenomenal success of the previous three years, Best Western Hotels – the largest group of independently owned hotels in Great Britain – has announced the dates of its fourth Best Western Senior Amateur Masters golf tournament. The high profile golf tournament will run throughout the summer at a selection of Best Western’s hotels throughout Great Britain - all with on-site golf facilities.

The Best Western Senior Amateur Masters event is aimed at male and female golfers, aged over 40 and will run in three age categories 40-50, 51-60 and over 61 year olds. Ten regional heats will be played at nine Best Western hotels and one independent hotel, throughout the country. Competitors can play in as many regional heats as they want, £35 per heat, and will tee off in fourballs over 18 holes. The scoring format is stableford with a ¾ handicap allowance, with a maximum handicap of 24 for men and 36 for ladies.

The resulting 40 finalists will be invited to compete at the Grand Final held at the four-star Best Western Forest Pines Hotel, north Lincolnshire. The Grand Final will be held over Sunday 7th and Monday 8th August 2005, all qualifiers receive an 18-hole practise round on Sunday, the option to stay at the hotel on Sunday night at a special competitor rate, lunch on the Monday, 18-hole Grand Final, drinks reception, gala dinner and free overnight accommodation.

Sharon McBroom, director of marketing for Best Western enthused: “We are delighted with the success of previous years’ events which attracted over 800 entrants and we hope this year that many players will return to try to win the title and that new contenders will make the competition even more challenging.’’

‘’We see the tournament as a vehicle to share a broader brand message across different market segments including leisure, corporate and conference. Best Western hotels are ideal for both leisure and business users – including corporate events such as golf days. With ten hotels offering excellent on-site facilities and many more with access to nearby courses – there’s sure to be a course to suit all levels of play.”
