Some of the favourites are paired together. Andy Colley (Ladbrook) is playing with Ryan Burton (Nuneaton) at 8.08 from the 9th tee, with Andy Jones (Ladbrook) first off from the 9th and these two players will represent a strong Ladbrook Park Challenge, along with Jack Sant (9.04 – from the 9th), for the team Championship as well as the individual titles.

A fellow US University student of Ryan’s is Jon Wetton (Nuneaton), who has a University Tournament win under his belt in this past Academic year. Jon is in the company of 2003 Champion Rob Steele at 9.28 from the 9th and Rob will be looking to repeat his win from two years ago at Handsworth.

The other player who his improving his golf in the US is David Harris (Kenilworth) and he is in the three ball of Midland Schools Champion and Boys Captain Andy Sullivan (Purley Chase), together with last year’s winner of the Amateur Matt Cryer. That three-ball may well produce some very low scoring. They are off at 9.20am from the 1st.

Other Juniors who have chances include Rob Browning (Maxstoke – 8.24 – 1st Tee), Dale Marson (Rugby 8.48 – 1st Tee), Neil Taylor (Rugby – 1st tee) and Chris Doughill (Stoneleigh Deer Park – 9.12 9th Tee).

A number of the best Juniors from the last two years are playing – notably Sam Foster, Jack Hamblett and Chris Hazeldine. Other players who may well feature are Gareth Jenkins, Louis Meryon, Thomas Webber and of course, the three players from the home Club of Robin Hood – Oliver West, Andrew Barton and Jack Raison.

This is only a selection of some of the names of players who have obvious chances. There have been a number of occasion when a player has risen to the occasion of a Championship and produced their best, and winning golf, when not expected.

Unfortunately we are not able to run the Live Scoring for the day. There will however be two reports, one at 3pm UK time and another with the winning scores and pictures at approximately 7pm UK time.

Over the days leading up to the championship, there will be a Preview of the Course, and profiles of Rob Steele and a past five-time winner, and now European Tour Professional, Tom Whitehouse.
