Elizabeth Mallett leads by two in English U13 championship
Warwickshire's Elizabeth Mallett has opened up a two-shot lead after the first two rounds of the English girls? U13 championship at Brickendon Grange, Hertfordshire. The English schools U16 champion added a five-over par 77 to her opening 78 to lead the qualifiers for the final round of the tournament.

Walsall GC - Monday 25th June - Elizabeth played in her first English Schools Championships yesterday at Walsall and was a very respectable 12th in a field where 13 (older) girls were off 3 or better. It was a tough and trying day, with the play shortened to just 18 holes as the skies dumped more rain on a sodden course and Elizabeth showed some fine form before a bad run on the back nine.

Elizabeth Mallett of Sutton Coldfield Ladies Golf Club rose to the occasion and played her best ever golf in finishing second at last weeks England Under 13 girls Championships that took place at the splendid Kidderminster Golf Club.
Warwickshire Girls fortunes at the English Girls Championships
The English U18 Girls Championship was staged at Kings Norton last week. Hannah Coles (5) qualified 14th overall with a 77 & 76 to earn a place in the first flight playoffs and lost in the second round to Ellie Givens (1). Charlotte Dalton (5) & Abbey Gittings (5) qualified for the second flight after opening rounds of 79. Abbey lost in the 1st round but Charlotte battled through the first day, winning on the 19th & then the 20th holes, only to succumb in the next round.

Fliss Johnson (Harborne) and Lisa Barton (Coventry Finham), the most successful foursomes pairing in the Warwickshire Ladies Team of 2004, came so close to winning the Midland Foursomes event at Harlestone Golf Club in Northamptonshire this week.
