This afternoon we had the battle of the youngsters in the final of the County Championship, with Katrina GANI (16 yrs from Shirley GC) against Warwickshire Junior Girls Captain, Melissa NICOL (18 yrs from Moor Hall GC). Guess what - the sun shone throughout the day and the greens staff were seen mowing fairways during the day, which after the weather we have experienced this week was quite something!

This annual, pre season warm up match was played on Sunday 15th April at Coventry Hearsall Golf Club. A really tight match ensued which ended up All Square. There were wins for Erika DEAN & Daniella HEATH against Shelagh MURRAY & Barbara MALINS 4 games to 3, and Emily COLEMAN & Meggan GEE against Gill THORPE & Val CUSHING 2 games to 1. Two other matches were Halved and 2 close wins for the Vets. All agreed that it had been a really enjoyable day and the result a fair one. 3 new young ladies played for the Junior Team - Hayley NEWCOMBE, Meggan GEE and Daniella HEATH.

The U12 Masters was held on Wednesday 11th April at Stoneleigh Deer Park. Ella DONOHOE from Robin Hood GC, aged 10 is the Warwickshire U12 Champion. Ashleigh BAILEY, from Olton GC was 2nd with Ellie May WATTS from Atherstone coming in 3rd....

On Thursday 12th April Olton held their 2nd girls open. The weather was very windy, cold and at times wet, however, the course was in excellent condition. 33 girls entered of which 23 entered the 18 hole completion.....

The future of County golf is in safe hands, after witnessing the exceptional talent shown by both teams at Shirley G.C on Saturday 24th March. It has been many years since this match has been played, but hopefully now this may be an annual pre-season warm-up.....
