• CLAIRE DOWLING's NEW ROLE

    We are pleased to announce that Claire DOWLING has been appointed Chair of the Handicap and Course Rating Committee for England Golf. This new role encompasses decision making, with her committee, for all Mens and Ladies golf in England. She also sits on the Club Services Committee (as handicapping comes under that) and also the CONGU Board. We, at Warwickshire would like to wish her well in her new role - she is going to be one busy lady!

  • SPECIAL AWARD for SYLVIA EVANS

    At the Sutton Coldfield Sports awards presentation on 28th January 2012, Sylvia Evans was presented with the Gemini Lifetime Achievement Award. Sylvia has been a member at Sutton for 43 years and for some 21 of those she has been involved with County Golf, particularly at Junior level. As Junior Organiser from 1991 to 2004 she worked tirelessly for the County and played a very important part in encouraging young girls into golf.....

  • LAUREN TAYLOR TAKES THE TROPHY

    At the Awards Presentation last evening, the BBC YOUNG SPORTS PERSONALITY of the year went to Lauren TAYLOR. Well done Lauren - just one more accolade for you this year and what a prestigious one to add to all your successes in 2011. Congratulations to you from all at WLCGA.

  • LAUREN TAYLOR REACHES THE LAST 3

    We are delighted to report that Lauren Taylor is to be one of the last 3 contenders for the prestigious BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year award. Lauren, the youngest-ever British Women's Champion in 2011, faces competition from cyclist Lucy Garner and Paralymic swimmer Eleanor Simmonds. The winner will be announced on the BBC show on Thursday 22nd December - good luck Lauren, we are all rooting for you.

    It has just been announced by the BBC that Lauren TAYLOR is included in the shortlist of 10 contenders for the BBC's YOUNG SPORTS PERSONALITY of the YEAR award. The winner will be announced on Thursdaqy 22nd December. We wish her well. Other news regarding Lauren.....

  • ELIZABETH MALLETT OFF TO USA IN 2012

    Elizabeth Mallett of Sutton Coldfield Ladies GC has just accepted an offer and signed a letter of Intent for a golf scholarship to join The University of North Carolina women's golf team. The four year placement at UNC will begin in August 2012 and her decision to join this particular University same after she had considered two other offers. Elizabeth stated that "they were all highly valuable offers with slightly differing strengths and emphasis, so it's been a difficult choice to make". We wish her well.

  • HOLES in ONE for 2011 SEASON

    During the 2011 season there have been 15 ladies from Warwickshire Clubs who have scored a Hole in One.
