Maxstoke Park Golf Club - Thursday 19th May 2010 - There were plenty of mistakes and hatfuls of birdies before the 2011 Amateur Champion was decided and it was the man who made the best recovery, Tom Ibbertson, who claimed his first Senior Warwickshire Championship with a closing round of 68 for 140 (-2).

- Sullivan takes title with devastating burst
2009 Warwickshire Amateur - Olton GC - Thursday 21st May - With just 29 strokes, Andy Sullivan procured himself a winning margin over the rest of the field in this year's Amateur, to give himself a second title for 2009 after winning the Midland Closed by six shots three weeks ago. It was a burst of quality of golf that only someone of Andy's calibre can produce, and was just enough to hold of the charge of Jack Sant. Sant only started playing golf again a year ago, having had a rest after years of Junior success.

With perfect timing for a change in weather forecasts, the heavy rain confined to the night before the Centenary Amateur left Copt Heath in perfect condition for those who were going to score low. Two players took real advantage of greens that were like dart boards, yet still silky smooth and it was Copt Heath member Sam Hufton who was topping the leaderboard, along with Ben Stafford, past Midland Boys Champion after the first 18

This report is a continuation of that for the morning round which saw Rob Steele and Louis Meryon tied for the lead in the 2005 Amateur on 69 (-3). For Gareth Jenkins, there was little consolation in playing the four holes on the back nine that had cost him so dearly in the morning round, in a total of nine shots better. The rest of his second round produced the same 74 as the morning but in a completely different manner. This was the first of so many stories of being close to taking the most prestigious title in Warwickshire Golf – and not quite making it
