Juniors Team /
Following on from 2007
Purley Chase GC - Sunday 4th May 2008 - Midland Junior League - Match 1 vs Worcestershire. Warwickshire Juniors continued their unbeaten run from 2007, with a slightly more convincing than last year's (but still very narrow) victory over our ever present rivals Worcestershire by 8.5-6.5 points. The winning points took some getting!
8-0
2008 Four Counties Championship - Bristol & Clifton GC - Sat 19th and Sun 20th April. This Century, Warwickshire are now 8-0 in the annual round-robin competition between ourselves, Worcestershire, Staffordshire and Gloucestershire. It was an impressive feat to equal Gloucs record consecutive wins two years ago, then to establish a new benchmark. The team that stops our County will feel different to any that have gone before but in 2008 (a year with an '8' in it) the record went further, despite all the pressure.
2008 Boys 4 Counties Team
Boys Manager John Simpson has just announced his team to try and take the record seven in a row sequence (held by ourselves) to a new record of eight consecutive victories over Gloucs, Worcs and Staffs in the annual Four Counties tournament in three weeks time . The team will be led by the new Boys Captain Rob Bardsley (Moor Hall).
2008 Warwickshire Annual Junior Meeting
Thursday 14th February - Copt Heath GC - Warwickshire Union President John Stubbings welcomed the delegates to the annual review of the past year and the announcement of plans for 2008, another year of significant success The meeting then started with Chairman of Junior Golf John Jewsbury giving a review of 2007. John firstly thanked the Junior Management Team of Dick Ferry, John Simpson and Antony Gascoigne, for all their hard work and commitment.
Dodds the Destroyer
Midland Boys Championship - Thursday 19th July 2007 - Kirby Muxloe Golf Club. Three weeks ago Sam Dodds was umming and erring over whether to play in the Midland Boys. There had been the disappointment of his team not making it through to the Junior County Finals, of the same happening when he made his Warwickshire First Team debut in the County 10s qualifier for the 'senior' version of the County Finals, then being caught for the longest time in the worst of the weather at the England Schools. And he didn't feel Kirby Muxloe would suit his game. How wrong he was.
Tough in the Sun
Sunday 10th June 2007 - Boys Midland League matches - Home vs Derbyshire at ingon Manor GC. Your Boys team responded with a gritty 9-7 win against a very solid Derbys team - after the disappointment of losing out at Oswestry two weeks ago. The margin of the win was the smallest but your team are looking to have some sort of consolation for not making the English Finals.
