• Brave play-off win for McIntyre

The 2010 Warwickshire Seniors - Monday 21st June - Shirley GC. It is safe to say, and many competitors were first to admit, that their scores were not good. The defending champion was serene for six holes whilst a leisurely round on a beautiful day suddenly became target golf.

  • The 'newbie' wins first time - Carman takes Seniors

The 2009 Warwickshire Seniors Championship - Monday 22nd June - Sutton Coldfield GC - In preparation for next year's English Amateur Championships, Sutton Coldfield have started to grow their rough. Around the greens it might soon match that of the US Open, so winning this year's Seniors required skill and straight hitting, and some nerve. Would the pre-tournament favorite Andrew Carman (by dint of his handicap of one) succeed?

  • It took 44 years

Warwickshire Seniors Championship 2008 - Monday 23rd June - Copt Heath. Over an immaculate Copt Heath golf course, your best seniors took to their annual challenge for the (now) six trophies on the prize table; the most notable the George Stubbings Trophy first played for 31 years ago and in the first few years, a championship dominated by Joe Moseley and of course Ronnie Hiatt. Since those 14 wins, there have not been many multiple winners and this year Frank Wallington rose to the top of the leader-board - in a rush!

  • Double 'T' Tatton takes double title

Warwickshire Seniors 2007 - Kenilworth GC - Monday 25th June - Geoff Tatton could not believe it when he won his first Seniors title just a couple of years ago. Introduced to the 'Seniors' game by John Lawton, Geoff thought that was his one year of Championship success. Proudly installed as Seniors Captain this year, Geoff has been leading your Seniors team to not a lot of success yet (but they have enjoyed every match) and today was back to the individual game. Someone was on Geoff's' side today - 'I had the very luck of the Devil' - as he bounced of trees back into play and chipped in twice.

  • Warwickshire Seniors Trials 2007

Monday 23rd April 2007 - Moor Hall GC - New Seniors Captain Geoff Tatton gathered together 40 of Warwickshire's best Senior golfers for a pre-season trial to help him with team selection for what is, as ever, a busy year for our O55s. Having watched virtually every other Union fixture being played in glorious Spring sunshine, Geoff had remarked in his invitational letter that he hoped the trialists would enjoy good weather to show off their golfing prowess. Your Seniors Captain was somewhat disappointed with the weather but not with the caliber of play on what was a pretty dank and miserable day.

  • Warwickshire Seniors 2005 - Sutherland takes play-off

Harborne GC - Monday 15th August. In the drama of a play-off, Roger Sutherland took his first Warwickshire title by making a birdie three against Ron Edmonson, another debutante in the most prestigious title for the over 55 golfer in our County. Both players had stories to tell about how they played, or how they actually came to play in the event, and there were some familiar trophy winners in the age categories.

  • Tatton REALLY enjoys his Senior Golf.

Warwickshire Seniors 2004 at Nuneaton GC – Monday 16th August. For Geoff Tatton, playing for the Warwickshire Seniors Team has made his golf in his 50s. Geoff appreciates the warmth and camaraderie at the matches, a thought which was echoed by John Stubbings, Secretary for the last time at a Seniors Championships, watching the George Stubbings Salver being handed over to the 2004 Champion Tatton, a fellow Moor Hall Member.
