- Fond Memories inspire another Coventry Champion
The 2012 Warwickshire Seniors Championship - Olton GC - Monday 25th June - Not having had the best of seasons (so far) Andrew Carman was looking for an opportunity to return to winning ways and that duly happened yesterday when he took the 2012 Seniors by two shots.
- Its a first Major for Holliday - just like McIlroy
Warwickshire Seniors Championship 2011 - Edgbaston GC - Monday 20th June - After years of accumulating trophies at his home club, and in just his third year of playing in the Seniors, Anton Holliday mimicked lots of a recent win by a 22 year old in taking his first Warwickshire title - but didn't win by eight shots before you ask ...
- The 'newbie' wins first time - Carman takes Seniors
The 2009 Warwickshire Seniors Championship - Monday 22nd June - Sutton Coldfield GC - In preparation for next year's English Amateur Championships, Sutton Coldfield have started to grow their rough. Around the greens it might soon match that of the US Open, so winning this year's Seniors required skill and straight hitting, and some nerve. Would the pre-tournament favorite Andrew Carman (by dint of his handicap of one) succeed?
- Shephard takes Centenary Seniors
2006 Centenary Warwickshire Seniors Championship - Ladbrook Park GC - Monday 21st August - Malcolm Shephard has marked the winner's card for the past three years. in 2006 he also marked the winner's card but this time only to add his signature to his own 73 which was good enough for a one stroke win over multiple Seniors winner John Lawton who produced his own best round of the year, a 74.
- Warwickshire Seniors 2005 - Sutherland takes play-off
Harborne GC - Monday 15th August. In the drama of a play-off, Roger Sutherland took his first Warwickshire title by making a birdie three against Ron Edmonson, another debutante in the most prestigious title for the over 55 golfer in our County. Both players had stories to tell about how they played, or how they actually came to play in the event, and there were some familiar trophy winners in the age categories.
- Tatton REALLY enjoys his Senior Golf.
Warwickshire Seniors 2004 at Nuneaton GC – Monday 16th August. For Geoff Tatton, playing for the Warwickshire Seniors Team has made his golf in his 50s. Geoff appreciates the warmth and camaraderie at the matches, a thought which was echoed by John Stubbings, Secretary for the last time at a Seniors Championships, watching the George Stubbings Salver being handed over to the 2004 Champion Tatton, a fellow Moor Hall Member.
- A very special win for Madden
John Madden only took up the game of golf in his mid 30’s. Since reaching ‘Seniors’ age, he has competed every year for Warwickshires most prestigious Trophy for the Senior golfer and twice he has lost in a play-off. He is a wonderful example to any late starter of what can be achieved but having found that he enjoyed the game, the ‘competitive’ John Madden has lowered his handicap to 3 and there is now a trophy collection of which this win is very special.
