Warks vs BB&O - Final pre-season friendly
Basked in glorious sunshine the 10 players of Warwickshire awaited the arrival of their B.B & O opponents at Coventry Golf Club. Unfortunately the wonders of modern technology (Satnav's) had sent most of them to The Warwickshire Golf & Country Club by mistake !
ONE WIN AWAY FROM TITLE
Henley Golf & Country Club - Sunday 7th June - Midland League vs Staffordshire. This fixture last year was the start of the demise of Warwickshire's Boys team's chance of the Midland league title - a loss away. As yet another Summer storm brushed the Henley course in the afternoon, this years team built on a winning morning to reverse that result and take a firm grip on the Midland League title.
MIDLAND LEAGUE AND MIDLAND OPEN AMATEUR
Sunday 1st July 2007 - Rugby GC and Worcester GC - Saturday 30th June - Northants County GC - Warwickshire keep winning! Your first team continued their winning ways with a 9-6 triumph in the 'local derby' against rivals Worcestershire. After a strong start, it was only a big comeback that saw the team through to take the match, whilst on Saturday Matt Cryer signaled his comeback after injury with second place in the Midland Open Amateur.
Everyone's a Winner
Midland League 2007 - Round 1 - Sunday 3rd June - 1sts away at Chesterfield & 2nds home at Robin Hood - It was smiles all round as both our teams started their 2007 campaigns with good wins - very good wins! Away at Chesterfield, Gareth Jenkins was in charge of his first 'competitive' match and the first result in from the morning was a loss. Then the winning started -
Good win for the 2nds - but this 1sts miss out.
Harborne GC - Sunday 1st April 2007 - Pre-season friendly vs Leicestershire - President Elect John Duncombe has been part of Warwickshire Golf for more than three decades and in the 60s and 70s, he played many times for the then Warwickshire 2nds team. Watching today's play, John was more than impressed - 'The golf now is so completely different to when I played. Whether or not it is the technology, the things these guys can do is incredible' - into the wind though, the 18th at Harborne has always been a driver ....
Your new 1st team Captain - Gareth Jenkins
Playing golf for Warwickshire from Junior up to Senior level, has been a large and hugely enjoyable part of my golfing life to date. To now become 1st team captain is a great honor for me. I?m following an outstanding Captain in Graham Hargreaves. Graham noticed me when I was a young county player, and was first to pick me for the senior team and the County 6?s Qualifying at Moseley.
