The Quinn Direct British Masters is the start of the European Tour for many of the top players, some of whom have spent the Spring in the US playing a number of the minimum 15 PGA Tour events they need to hold playing privileges there, others taking time out after a golf schedule which now just stops for a couple of weeks over Christmas.

FASHIONABLE POULTER IS SET TO STAND OUT AT THE QUINN DIRECT BRITISH MASTERS |
| Ian Poulter, one of England's most exciting golfing talents, has announced that he will compete for this year's Quinn Direct British Masters title.
As famous for his elite golfing skills as his flamboyant dress sense, Poulter will be competing against an impressive line-up including British Masters defending champion Thomas Bjorn, US Open Champion Michael Campbell and several of Ian?s past Ryder Cup team mates for a share of the GBP 1.8 million prize fund from Thursday 11 to Sunday 14 May.

The 2005 Daily telegraph Dunlop Masters finished in some style, with a three man play-off after the lead had changed hands on numerous occasions with some great scoring for the huge crowds. There is only ever one winner and that was Thomas Bjorn but all the players who had chances had stories to tell. | The best barometer all week, for the Daily Telegraph Dunlop Masters, has been the number of bricks to hold open the media tent door. Thursday was a one or two brick day. Friday was five (the stroke average was more akin to Bethpage Black for the US Open than a free scoring day on a course where par has been the cut mark) whilst yesterday was back to only one. |
