A Strain on Your Brain
Paul Broadhurst finished off the 2005 Volvo Masters with a level par round of 71 to finish 6th on his own and win 140 000 Euros, plus a hatful of World Ranking points. Was he pleased? You can be sure he was.
Murray on Webster
Euan Murray started working with Steve Webster back in the Summer of 2005, mainly through a conversation with Steve's father - also through Steve's friendship with a long time pupil of Murray's, Gary Evans, with whom Webbie shares a Winter training base in Dubai. Its a relationship which has proved very fruitful, with more to come.
Irish Eyes do smile
A year ago, Ian Poulter was over par in his first nine of the 2004 Volvo Masters. Paul McGinley included a double and a triple in his first seven of the 2005 Volvo - then lit the touch paper to his golf and simply played the field away.
Volvo Masters Day 3 - the Comeback
There was more work with Ewan Murray before Steve Webster tried to make a move through the field in the Volvo Masters and the results from the tee were all that Steve could have wanted. He did however, have the Broadhurst ' virus' from Day 1, and bit of an inability to hit greens. At the end of the field, the Zen Master of Patience (as Paul Broadhurst must surely now be known) was producing something very special.
Monty's Command falters
With an average of 25 putts a round to go with tee-to-green golf which was also highly rated by the last tournament stats provided by Reuters (this fantastic facility will continue under new sponsorship though), Colin Montgomerie looked like marching to a several stroke lead after round three of the 2005 Volvo Masters by shooting five birdies in his first 13 holes. Then things went awry
Broadhurst fights back
In the tournament for the 'real' OoM title, the 'hot favourite' Paul Broadhurst did his cause no harm whatsoever with another gritty round around a course which isn't really made for his game (in his own words). The 69 Paul posted was good enough to put him Top 10 in the chase for more than just the Atherstone No 1 slot. There could be Majors qualification and even the Volvo Masters title if Paul can find some magic.
