The Heritage – Day 4
After the disappointment of Saturday, Jamie Elson was producing much better golf in the final round of the Heritage as he seeks to either find enough prize money to keep his card or for the form that will take him through Q School at San Roque in November. Languishing at 169th in the Volvo Order of Merit before the Heritage, Jamie has very limited opportunities to make the 130 000 Euros or so he needs to avoid the trip to Spain.
The Heritage D2 - No Q School yet for Elson
Jamie Elson was very handily placed for the weekend of the Heritage at Woburn after adding a 71 to his opening 69 to be Top 10, and still very much in with a chance of retaining his card in his debut year on the European Tour. This return to the level of play that was promised from his amateur career was partly due to a break from the Tour and some Ryder Cup inspiration.
The Heritage at Woburn - Preview
Tomorrow at Woburn, four of the players from the victorious European Ryder Cup team will step onto the tee to play in the 2004 Heritage, a special new tournament in honour of the late, great Mark McCormack. There were four other Ryder Cup stars due to play but they are recovering from their exertions (and headaches) so they will miss out on the rapturous welcome that will greet Monty, Padraig Harrington. local boy Ian Poulter plus David Howell.
