Friday 28th November 2008 - Copt Heath Golf Club - President John Duncombe welcomed 190 guests to this year's Annual Dinner, with Guest of Honour Roy Case, President of the English Golf Union. It was an evening when our Country celebrated success which was so close to being outstanding.

| The 2008 Bainbridge Final - Sutton Coldfield GC - Friday 30th October - Maxstoke have (very surprisingly) not held the Bainbridge Shield, the Counties premier interclub scratch competition, for 26 years, since the days of Tony Allen. 'Considering the quality of golfer they have produced, its an amazing fact,' said WU president John Duncombe. That wait is over.

Midland League 2008 - M5 for the 1sts - Handsworth GC - Sunday 26th October - The arget was a minimum of a 12-3 win, if the Midland League title was to return to 'Bear Country' . That was always going to be difficult and our final opponents Derbyshire were in no mood to make lfie easy. That showed in the morning foursomes result.

McDonald's ties them in Notts ! |
| Team Warwickshire 2nd's v Nottinghamshire at Hearsall GC on Sunday 12th October 2008. This was the rearranged fixture following the cancellation on Sunday 7th September. We arrived at Hearsall Golf Club thinking that the heavy fog that had descended and the notoriously resilient Nottinghamshire team would be our concerns, that was until we realised that there wasn't a chef in the clubhouse and that would mean that there would be no breakfast !

£ 25,000 BOOST FOR GOLF IN WARWICKSHIRE! |

Golf in Warwickshire has received a £ 25,000 boost to develop the sport and introduce more people of all ages and backgrounds to the game across the county over the next three years.

| Warks 1sts vs Notts - away at Wollaton Park - Sunday 12th October. With an 8.5-6.5 win, Warwickshire kept themselves in the hunt for this years' Midlands League title. They will however, have to do what their opponents today did to Derbyshire (our final match - Sunday October 26th) when Notts played them earlier in the season.
