The Warwickshire Second Team emphatically beat Worcestershire and Herefordshire at Leamington and County Golf Club yesterday, 24th August winning 8 games to 1 to clinch the Midlands South League Cup. On the way to winning the League Cup they beat Oxfordshire (away) 5 games to 4 away at Bicester Golf and Country Cub, Northamptonshire (away) at Overstone Park 5 games to 4 and Buckinghamshire (home) at Ladbrook Park Golf Cub 7 games to 2....

2nd Team matches for the 2010 season have thrown up much variety in both having pleasing results and disappointments!!

The Mary Turner Bowl comes back to Warwickshire. 2008 has seen the County 1st team win their Midlands South competition and the County 2nd team retain their trophy. Playing in the old Midlands Sub Division 2 for the very last time Sue Jones and her 2nd team were triumphant over Staffordshire, Worcestershire & Herefordshire and Derbyshire. Warwickshire have now won the trophy three times in the last five years. 2009 however sees both 2nd team and junior matches moving into the new Midlands South region.

I am very pleased to report that 2008 was a very successful season for the Warwickshire second team retaining the trophy that we won again last year. With some of the squad having moved onto the first team this year it gave opportunity for some of our juniors to gain experience and some new faces to join the team. Twelve ladies and juniors attended winter coaching with Andy Dunbar and were in good shape for the season ahead.

WLCGA 2nd team saw their hopes of retaining the trophy disappear having only played one league match! Unfortunately there was little atmosphere or build up in this year's competition!

A combined Warwickshire 1st and 2nd Team ended their season on a high, winning the highly coveted Mary Turner Bowl at Blackwell Golf Club in Worcestershire.
