Preview for the 2005 Warwickshire Amateur Championship
Thursday 26th May 2005 at Robin Hood Golf Club. Matt Cryer returns to defend the first of his three Warwickshire Championships fresh from playing in the St Andrews links trophy, against a field of 71 others representing the best in the County, all trying to win a trophy which has on it the names of some very famous players, including the new Italian Open Champion Steve Webster.

When it happens after your first year on Tour, it should be the time for re-assessment, something many have done and then gone on to tour wins and long term success. It looks like Tom Whitehouse is going to follow that path, but this week, at the Daily Telegraph Dunlop Masters, he's not too sure how well he can do.

The professionals have been and gone and on Monday 24th, our best amateurs will try to follow in the footsteps of our past Champions who have had so much success in all parts of the game. They will be playing 36 holes at Ladbrook Park and the defending Champion Rob Steele (Kenilworth) will be all out to defend his title against one of the strongest fields for years.
