Final at Sutton Coldfield GC The two teams that made the final of the Bainbridge Shield both made their way to the 36 hole match with some great golf. Carl Kirby played the first two rounds with Ed Morton, as Coventry B, and the team s successes grew with each round with winning margins going up and up, to 6&5 and 6&4, when David Hayes returned from University to take Morton s place.

The two teams that made the final of the Bainbridge Shield both made their way to the 36 hole match with some great golf. Carl Kirby played the first two rounds with Ed Morton, as Coventry B, and the team s successes grew with each round with winning margins going up and up, to 6&5 and 6&4, when David Hayes returned from University to take Morton s place. From Pype Hayes, Andy Sheard was a finalist in 1992, also at Olton, but this year had teamed up with Glyn Grayson, recording 4 home wins then a great 6&5 triumph away at Stratford in the semis.

For full scorecard - click MORE ....The Coventry team were in cracking form and with two birdies (and just one bogey) went out in 33, one under par. Pype Hayes had a couple of bits of bad luck and would not have wanted to make the other mistakes which left them 6 down after that first 9. With plenty of holes left (and if last year s final was anything to go by, a recovery was possible) the Pype Hayes team kept with Coventry until a bogey at 15 dropped them another hole ....

Final at Sutton Coldfield GC Purley Chase pairing Gary Taylor and Dave Shorthose won the first County Title for their Club in a thrilling final of the Bainbridge Shield at Sutton Coldfield Golf Club on Sunday 4th November, beating Harborne Golf Club by 1 hole. The Bainbridge is the premier Inter Club competition for Warwickshire Golfers, each club able to enter up to two teams to play scratch foursomes in a knockout draw through the golf season.
