2008 Warwickshire Trials - Sunday 13th April - Olton GC - On handicap (both +3), Andy Sullivan and Matt Cryer should have been the favorites for this years Mens Trials, and they duly delivered with gross 68s for 37 points, to beat our Boys Captain Rob Bardsley and Ian Stranks by a shot (and a point).

| Warwickshire Men's Trials 2007 - Walmley Golf Club - Sunday 15th April - Birmingham Evening Mail Champion of Champions Tournament - One year ago Global Warming served up snow and freezing temperatures. For 2007, the weather was perfect for the 2007 trials and to 'justify' his place the team, Warwickshire County Captain Gareth Jenkins was the only player under par in the Men's Trials, courtesy of five birdies! Sunday 9th April - Walmley GC - The Centenary Mens Trials was hit first by pea sized hail pebbles, then by thunder and lightning, and once play had been suspended (and then cancelled), ti snowed for the next hour. Only five players from the field finished 18 and then included an inspired Antony Gascoigne, at least for the back nine.

| To be held at Walmley Golf Club on Sunday 9th April. This is the draw for the 2006 Mens Trials, with 41 competitors. Not able to play, because of EGU commitments, are three of our top players in Matt Cryer, Rob Steele and Andy Sullivan.

Sporting a distinct sun tan from trips away with England’s elite, it was a solid 69 gross for 37 pionts that saw Matt Cryer take the 2005 Men’s Trials. There were other familiar faces in the top 10 of an event which is where many players have first come to the attention of the County Captain and the 2nds Captain, for selection to the teams which have been successful in the past few seasons, a winning formula that President Jim Dean remarked on in his presentation speech the County would very much like to continue. |
