U15s Review /
Carney takes first Warwickshire Win
Warwickshire Boys U16s - Monday 20th August - Coventry Hearsall GC - Jamie Carney led from start to finish to win his first Boys title but in the end it was much closer than the three stroke margin the scores for the day show. Jamie actually won by those three shots from Sam Teather - who took the U14s last year with a superb final nine - from Jamie. The 'match' was actually between Jamie and this year's Mans Matchplay Champion Michael McCormack.
Ray's 1st
Warwickshire U14s 2007 - North Warwickshire Golf Club - Tuesday 7th August - the 29th U14s (or U15s as it used to be) was won by Maxstoke's Nathan Ray with a 76 then a 39 for the last nine holes. Having been the best player in the Counties U14s team 9and the U14s captain), Nathan 'did the business' in some style winning by four shots from George Allan of Shirley.
Winner One is Bardsley
Inaugural Warwickshire U16s - Monday 14th August 2006 - Nuneaton GC - In another 100 years, if golf is still a sport as it is now, the historians will look over the results of this, the first Warwickshire U16s Boys, and see many names of players who will go on to great things. The U16s winner, Robert Bardsley, is one of a number of very talented 'mid' juniors who have come through in the past two years, ready to take the place of players such as Chris Evans, Andy Sullivan and the like as Warwickshire do the hardest thing in sport, staying at the top. Robert had to work hard to take his first Warwickshire Union title -
Teather's U14s title.
Centenary Warwickshire U14s Championship - North Warks GC - Tuesday 8th August - The U14s (formally the U15s but now changed to be in line with the EGU age classifications) has a pedigree of winners that is rare - Paul Broadhurst (twice), Sam Walker (twice) and Jamie Elson all being past champions who have gone on to European Tour success or International honours. Recent champions have not yet made the transfer to the Professional ranks but any of the Top 3 today could make that graduation, with lots and lots of hard work. As it was, the final nine holes of play between Sam Teather and Jamie Carney was superb golf, for any age of player.
Geraghty adds second title with U15s
In a golden year for 14 year old Andrew Geraghty, a second Warwickshire title in the form of the very prestigious U15s title came the four handicapper's way at North Warwickshire GC today 9th August with rounds of 74 and then a final nine of 39. Andrew's name goes onto a trophy whose roster of winners includes Paul Broadhurst, Sam Walker and Jamie Elson.
Sant hits the double
North Warks GC – Tuesday 3rd August 2004. A year ago to the day, Jack Sant (at aged 13) stated he wanted to emulate Paul Broadhurst in winning the Warwickshire U15s two years in succession. It was a positive message that Jack has carried with him since as he progresses rapidly through the ranks of Warwickshire Junior Golf and today; he lived up to his word with a score of 2 under par for the 27 holes of the Championship.
