• The 2004 Junior Order of Merit

    This year, Rob Browning steps up to defend his JoM title. Starting fully on 1st April, Rob and any other Junior member of a Warwickshire Union Club who has a handicap will be competing for 100 000 s of JoM points to decide who will be Champion for 2004 and take away some wonderful prizes. It doesn t matter what standard of golfer you are, you could win the JoM.

    It was October last year and Steve Backley was part of the Olympians Team at the Schlumberger Challenge at the De Vere Belfry. This was part of his annual holiday, the start of one last year of being one of the best Javelin throwers the World has ever seen. He will hang up his spikes after his last throw at this Summer s Olympics having tried his competitive best to take a golf medal at World level.

    Next Thursday 30th October, at Kenilworth Golf Club, our Boys team take on Notts for the Midland League Junior title - your support will be very welcome as it will be this Saturday (25th) at the new West Midlands Golf Club when the top 24 from the 2003 Junior Order of Merit complete this seasons calendar with the JoM Championship - and decide the JoM No1. On both days you will be able to see some top golf. Our Juniors are a very talented bunch.

    The Dunlop Starter Centre Initiative has reached new heights this month, with the number of Dunlop Starter Centres hitting the 375 mark; a fantastic achievement for the Golf Foundation who’s main aim is to promote and develop junior golf across the British Isles. Dunlop’s sponsorship of the Starter Centre Network, coupled with a successful Sportsmatch application, has enabled the Golf Foundation to reach the significant landmark of 375 Dunlop Starter Centres across the British Isles, with 20 new Starter Centres being identified this month following Dunlop and Sportsmatch’s investment.
