• SYLVIA EVANS RETIRES FROM WLCGA JUNIORS

    At the AGM of the County on Wednesday 16th November a special 'Thank You' and presentation was given to Sylvia Evans from Sutton Coldfield Ladies GC. Sylvia has been a member at Sutton for 43 years and for some 21 of those she has been involved with County Golf, particularly at Junior level. As Junior Organiser from 1991 to 2004 she worked tirelessly for the County and played a very important part in encouraging young girls into golf.....

  • WINNER OF THE 2011 QUIZ

    The winner of the Quiz set at the AGM in 2010 was announced at the County AGM on Wednesday 16th November 2011. With a magnificent 86% correct answers, the winner was Karen HEARN from Olton GC. Karen stated that it had taken her hours, but that she just could not put it down!! Pictured are Karen with County President, Elizabeth Earnshaw and Quiz master Pam Harben.   • FURTHER ACCOLADE FOR LAUREN TAYLOR in 2011

    Warwickshire player Lauren TAYLOR has been chosen, together with Charley HULL (Northamptonshire) to represent English Women's Golf Association at the biennial Spirit International Amateur Championship, being staged at ther Whispering Pines Golf Club in Houston, Texas from 2 - 5 November 2011. A further 2 amateur men have also been chosen to represent English Golf Union at this event, where the competition is played on a fourball and better-ball format over 72 Holes. We wish them well.

    26th May 2011 - Edgbaston Golf Club - the Ping Pairs event Qualifying - One Hole-in-One is rare and many golfers never have that moment of triumph and wonder - but Edgbaston's Ann Bache has done it twice, and both in the same round!!!!

  • ELIZABETH MALLETT STARTS 2011 WITH MORE ACCOLADES

    English Girls Champion Elizabeth Mallett has won a junior sports personality of the year award for her achivements. The 16 year old Warwickshire player, who plays at Sutton Coldfield Ladies Golf Club, was presented with the U18 trophy by former British Olympic hockey player, Jane Sixsmith at the Birmingham Metropolitan college awards ceremony. There were 16 nominees in Elizabeth's category, with three reaching the final short list. What an achievement for her, and then a couple of weeks later she had another reason to celebrate.

  • CHARLOTTE DALTON TURNS PRO - JANUARY 2011

    Charlotte DALTON turned Pro in January 2011 and will be playing on the European Access Tour for the 2011 season, with long term plans to progress to the main Ladies European Tour. Charlotte has been part of County golf for many years - first as a junior and then as an invaluable member of the County team.
