This week sees the Centenary Mens Matchplay Championship take place at Copt Heath, with one of the strongest all round fields in its recent history as the draw includes nearly all the best of the younger Warwickshire golfers. The eight players involved qualified from the Centenary Warwickshire Amateur as did Maxstoke Park GC (pictured) for the English Club Championship - the full results of teams from the Amateur is available plus a poster for club notice boards on last week's Midland League matches. |

The following are the dates of the four main Warwickshire Strokeplay Championships for the Centenary year of 2006. The full Mens calendar, including a number of age-group Junior Championships, will be available shortly. Entry forms will be available from early February this year and early entry is advised to be sure of a place in what are going to be special championships.

Phillips denies Cryer the Treble |
| The Warwickshire Open 2004 – Olton GC – Wednesday 1st September
Olton was playing tough for the 40 competitors for the 2004 Warwickshire Open, despite one of the best days weather for golf this Summer. Our Amateurs found the par of 69 very difficult, through some tough pins and fast greens. The Professionals, who only qualified from their Championship last week, faired a little better and the two first round leaders were Russell Smith (Sutton Coldfield) and Craig Phillips (Nuneaton) on 68 (-1).
