Congratulations to the Champions
Stoneleigh Deer Park Golf Club's team clinched the victory in the final of The Mail on Sunday Classic at El Rompido in Andalucia, Spain on Saturday 28th November 2009, with a win over Moor Park Golf Club (3 1/2 to 1 1/2).
The 2009 Warwickshire Union Dinner
Copt Heath Golf Club - Friday 27th November - For the annual celebration of our Counties achievements for the season, this year was extra special. Once again, the Union was graced by the President of the English Golf Union (this year Mr Norman Forest - who turned down three other invites to be at Copt Heath) and the 200 guests came to support our three Midland region successes.
Its Back - and its Busy
The NEC Golf Show 2009 - 27th-29th November - Hall 10 at the NEC. This is a bust time of the year for exhibitions and this years NEC Golf Show has plenty of competition, notably from the BBC Food Show. That said, this show is already very busy of its own right, catering for the Midland's Golfers who need their 'fix' over the Winter months
County Treasurer
The Warwickshire Union of Golf Clubs Limited have a vacancy for the post of: County Treasurer. The County's present Treasurer John Powell (Copt Heath), has announced his intention to retire from office at our next AGM in March 2010, after a period of seven years.
Hearsall cruise to third win
The Final of the 2009 Bainbridge Championship - Sunday 18th October at Copt Heath Golf Club - The County pairing of Sam Foster and unbeatable James Bromley (James has just won the County Order of Merit and his own club championship) were up against Harborne's Charlie and Chris Staite, and having won most of their previous rounds quite comfortably, they overcame a great start by Harborne to register a second win for their club as a pairing by 6&5.
Pell is new JOM No 1
Saturday 17th October 2009 - The West Midlands Golf Club - the JOM Championship. The name Ibbertson is the only one on the Birmingham Post Trophy. Tom was looking for No 3 but just like four years ago when firstly Harry took the No 1 spot, they were once the challengers and this year, the new 'blood' was out in force.
