• Golf United

The merger of the English Golf Union (EGU) and the English Women?s Golf Association (EWGA) was approved last week at simultaneous general meetings of both organisations. The merger will come into effect on 1 January 2012 and will create England Golf, one national governing body to represent all amateur golfers in England.

  • The Warwickshire are the winners

After six rounds of tough competition throughout the season, 66 teams slowly became whittled down to just two. For the remaining two teams I think it was fair to say that one represents the new generation of Warwickshire Golf and the other, lets call them, 'experienced'.

  • Too Good Tovey

Saturday 15th October - The West Midlands Golf and County Club - the 2011 Junior Order of Merit Championship - From unknown to record setter, Olton's Rob Tovey became an example for any Warwickshire Junior that never having been noticed by the County is no barrier to becoming the Junior Order of Merit Champion.

  • Three in a row

Warwickshire 1st vs Staffordshire Whittington Heath GC 02/10/11 - My first season as captain over and this latest match took us to Whittington, a first class venue and one that suited us as we finished the year off with another victory. This is now our third win on the bounce and one that took us to just one point short of this year's league winners Nottingham

  • Seconds Suffer Singles Setback

Sunday 2nd October 2011 - Nuneaton Golf Club vs Staffordshire - We went into our last league match of the season knowing nothing short of victory was required for us to have a chance of winning the league. The usual run-up in the week leading up to the match saw me lose 3 players from my original selection (Rich Oddy called up to the firsts, Dale Marson was unable to get the day off from work and I had to drop out due to a tweaked back).

  • County Finals 2011 Ganton GC - Captains Report

A more competitive and stressful week has never been had for the seven players who represented Warwickshire at this year's county finals. It was 36 holes for three consecutive days competing against three very strong counties and we now know what is required to beat these teams.

  • Proving a Point

English County Finals 2011 - Ganton GC - Day 2 - With a totally different mood our squad today took on the might of Surrey, Stiggy Hodgson and all. We lost but the matches were much tighter and after the foursommes, the score was 1.5 apiece
