A glorious morning was equalled only by the wonderful golf at both League semi finals to-day. After a long and very competitive golfing season it is a pleasure to firstly congratulate The Warwickshire and Stratford upon Avon for qualifying for the semi final at Olton GC and to Shirley and Maxstoke Park for qualifying for the semi final at Kenilworth GC.

Dottie BEANLAND, County Captain and her partner, Liz MOVERLEY, both from Copt Heath Golf Club, had the Best Nett score of 63 in the 2010 Summer Meeting which was held at Edgbaston Golf Club, yesterday the 2nd August. Lyle & Scott were once again the very generous sponsors for this competition and all prizewinners were delighted with their prizes.

Elizabeth MALLETT from Sutton Coldfield Ladies GC won the English Girls Championship, which was played at Seacroft GC, Lincolnshire over the 3 days, 27th to 29th July 2010, with Lauren TAYLOR coming in as Runner up.

Sophie THOMPSON aged 14 was the outright winner of the Lee Westwood tournament at the end of a 3 day Academy at The Warwickshire Golf Club.

2010 Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire Sports Awards - Nominate your golfing stars across the fourteen categories which include Sportsman of the Year, Young Sportswoman of the Year, Coach of the Year, Unsung Hero and many more. Nominations close on Monday 2nd August.

The FOUR semi finalists are now known after several months of interesting and close matches and the date for the semi finals is MONDAY 9th August 2010.

The venue was Olton Golf Club with fast running greens and a course set up for some good scoring today, 1st July for the Veronica Anstey Trophy competition. Once again the competition was generously sponsored RUDDELL, the Jewelers and the Warwickshire Captain, Dottie Beanland is picured with the prize winners proudly showing off their beautiful glassware prizes.
