• The McEvoy and the 4 Counties Team

    The week after Easter is always the date of the McEvoy trophy, 72 holes played over Copt Heath and open only to the best Boys in the Country. This year, the cut off point for handicaps was the lowest it has ever been and only three of our Juniors had made into the field, with Jak Hamblett, Boys Captain having to withdraw from both this competition and the 4 Counties, through injury late last week.

  • DAILY TELEGRAPH DAMOVO BRITISH MASTERS COMPETITION

    We’ve teamed up with our friends at the Marriott Forest of Arden to offer two fantastic prizes of tickets to The Daily Telegraph Damovo British Masters, to be held at the Meriden-based venue from May 6-9. In Ryder Cup year, Europe’s best golfers will be at The Daily Telegraph Damovo British Masters to battle for valuable qualifying points. Local heroes Lee Westwood and 2003 British Masters winner Greg Owen are already confirmed starters at what will be the only European Tour tournament held in the Midlands in 2004.

  • What's coming up in April?

    April sees Junior Golf taking centre stage in the County. After the success of the 1st vs Leicestershire and the Ladies 1st vs Lancashire, on 14th April its the Schools Championships, on the 15th its the Boys Trials and the following weekend its the Four Counties which Warwickshire have won for the last THREE seasons! At the end of the month, the Warwickshire Cup final is followed by the Mens Trials. All the news of this will be here first, and remember that there will be Live Scoring for the Schools and Boys Trials .... and there is lot of new editorial for you in Features.

    The premier Warwickshire Mens Championship is just over two months away and individual entry is now available for golfers with a handicap of 4 or less. The holder is Rob Steele of Kenilworth.   • The start of the 2004 season

    On Thursday 18th March, the Warwickshire Union of Golf Clubs held its AGM at Copt Heath Golf Club and welcomed a new President, Jim Dean of Kenilworth. Details follow in this article but the following weekend saw the first friendly matches of the season and results and pictures can be found in Warwickshire Men.

    Sunday March 14th and 38 of the 1st and 2nd team Squad gathered at the De Vere Belfry for the annual first meeting of each year. Their test, in 4 ball better ball competition, was the Brabazon, made even more difficult by a very strong wind.
