Sunday 31st May at Breedon Priory Golf Club - On a course measuring 5,958 yards from the white tees and with the weather was warm and sunny with a light breeze, the Warwickshire team was weakened on paper by the absence of the under 16 captain Nathan Ray, and Robert Owens who is unbeaten in his matches for the county so far this year.

The Final of the 2009 Mens Matchaply Championship - Olton GC - Sunday 31st June. It was rather hot to play golf, and 'hot' golf was being played. For father of two Rob Porter, heroics from Friday had presented him with the opportunity to try and play another perhaps 36 against the best player in Warwickshire, to add to the 72 in the three days before.

The 2009 Midland Schools - Kirby Muxloe Golf Club - Friday 29th May - The theme of the last week has been completely non Warwickshire correct with our large opera singer either waylaid in the wings, or having lost her voice (hopefully not through indulging in smoking) ? winning has become a memory. Jonathan Bryan made a great attempt at reversing that trend in the Midland Schools.

Boys County 6s - Midland Qualifier - Maxstoke Park GC - Thursday 28th May 2009. Winning at a 'home' venue has always proved difficult, whether for Warwickshire or any other county, and so it was this year as our strong Boys team tried to book a return to the English County Finals, this time to be held just up the road in Staffordshire and in August, rather than a 'balmy' links as last year at Westwood Ho, in mid September.

On Sunday 24th May the Warwickshire under 16s and under 14s played their first county match of the new season against Staffs county. The match was played in ideal weather conditions(warm and sunny)at Uttoxeter Golf course,, The course was short by modern standards, 5801 yards off the white tees. The lack of length was compensated for by small greens, which according to the players were very slow and the course was very undulating.
