In less than bright Spring like conditions, Warwickshire Ladies teed off as one of England’s most impressive fields for a County Championship. The ‘heights’ of Birmingham were though considerably dryer than many surrounding districts and towns and ahead lay 36 holes to qualify for the knockout stages of the County Championships and the winning of the Silver Division Cup. |

| Rydale Cars, the BMW and MINI dealer flagship in Birmingham city centre has announced its sponsorship of the Warwickshire Ladies County Golf Championship to be held at Edgbaston GC from 3 -5 May 2005. The blue ribbon event in the ladies county golf calendar will be highly contested and has attracted a host of present and past international golfers to enter for the title.

| History is to be made today when Beverly Lewis becomes the first woman to captain The Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA). She has been the lady-in-waiting for the last two years as captain elect and succeeds John Yeo to the post following the PGA’s Annual General Meeting being held at The DeVere Belfry near Sutton Coldfield.

GROWTH OF GOLF SWINGS INTO ACTION |
| Plans for the development of golf in England, aimed at increasing the number of individuals playing golf by 5% over the next four years, were unveiled today in London.
Under the umbrella of The England Golf Partnership; the English Golf Union (EGU), English Ladies’ Golf Association (ELGA), The Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA), together with the support of The Golf Foundation and Sport England, have come together to produce a ‘Whole Sport Plan’ for golf.
