First match of her two year appointment and Pat Hale was selecting a team to take on the mighty Lancashire Ladies, winners of the National title just two years ago. The result of this ‘presidential’ match was 10-2 to Lancashire last year at the venue Weetabix British Ladies Open of 2003, Royal Lytham. This year, our Ladies were out to even the result and they did that in a very entertaining match full of excellent golf from both sides.

Come along to watch this first team pre-season friendly with 2002 UK County Champions Lancashire. A line-up of some of the country s best competitors promises to be one of the highlights of the season. The players will fight it out in a competition that includes foursomes and singles formats over 36 holes at Edgbaston Golf Club.

The Mary Turner Bowl was competed for at Walmley Golf Club for on 8th October, hosted by Warwickshire. The trophy is competed for annually between Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire the format being a better-ball alliance stroke-play with 8 First Team and 8 Second County Team players in each team.

At Kedleston Park, this Monday through Wednesday, the Warwickshire Ladies County team will start on the road to trying to go one stage further than last year when they reached the semi-finals and so bravely fought to go through. Reports will be here each night, at approximately 7.00 pm as Captain Marsha Button leads her team against Staffordshire, Derbyshire and Worcestershire

An Overview of the County Championship Events by Beth Towers Its almost the end of the season and much of the team action has taken place for Warwickshire s First Team. Our players have now gone on to compete on an individual basis up and down the country and abroad. The event that confirmed squad selection was the County Championships held in May at Nuneaton. 3 days of high quality golf began with a 36 hole scratch qualifier.
