• Midland Golf for the end of June - Rob Steele, David Harris and our best players.

Having arrived back from the County 6s at just after Midnight on Saturday, Rob Steele could hardly have expected to be fresh for 36 holes in the Finham Bowl on the Sunday morning - along with all the other players from Warwickshire and other Counties who had been playing in the County 6s. He was playing with Matt Cryer and their opening 73s left the pair five back from the lead. Then the fireworks started as the two played some fantastic golf ...

  • David Harris - making it in America

In 2002 a new face appeared in the ranks of Warwickshire Junior golf. His name was David Harris and he played some great golf for the County and in the Union Championships during that year. David became part of Warwickshire golf through moving back to the region with his father's work and pre 2002, he had been a big part of Junior golf in Europe - he came back here already a good golfer. Last year was spent on the Amateur circuit until August 2003 when he crossed 'the pond' to sample US College golf - this is the story since then.

  • The 2003 End of Season Celebration Dinner

Friday 28th November - the Warwickshire Union held its annual celebration dinner at Copt Heath Golf Club, with over 180 guest attending from many of our clubs, from the Midland Counties and with Mr Philip Parker, Chairman of the EGU, as the principal guest. It was the 1st team who won the Midland League last year and for 2003, it was our 2nd team who were to receive the league trophy, having won in such dramatic fashion in the final match of the season. The presentations were made by John Tickell, trying (as per his position as MGU President) to be unbiased but in his own words, more than happy.

  • Tony Reading - Reflections from the President of the Union

If you have attended a County Match, or a County Championship, over the past two years, you will have met the soon-to-retire President of the Union, Tony Reading. Tony is instantly recognisable, tall and distinguished . He would probably hate to be called debonair but he epitomises a look of a retired Guards Colonel and is always immaculately dressed. At the end of his two years as President, he took time to reminisce about golf in the comfort of his home club, Maxstoke Park Golf Club.

  • The Midland League and JoM Deciders

Next Thursday 30th October, at Kenilworth Golf Club, our Boys team take on Notts for the Midland League Junior title - your support will be very welcome as it will be this Saturday (25th) at the new West Midlands Golf Club when the top 24 from the 2003 Junior Order of Merit complete this seasons calendar with the JoM Championship - and decide the JoM No1. On both days you will be able to see some top golf. Our Juniors are a very talented bunch.
