We are going to southern Spain, for the climax of the 2003 European Tour, and every night, you can read all about each days play from the Top 60 in the European Tour Volvo Order of Merit. Whilst Ernie Els is already assured of the No1 position, a number of the Tour stars will be hoping that their final position will be inside the Top 15, with all that such a position brings in terms of Majors and World Championship invitations.

From the first days of this Championship, when Palmer and Co used to (be able to) drive out to Wentworth from Central London, to the later special package of a Mansion, Butler and maid, there had never been a local Derby like this one. Els and Bjorn live on the Wentworth estate and are very much in the same social circle. They know each other well.  |

| Lovely day, lovely golf from Chad Campbell. Campbell lists ‘Hunting’ as his special interests and he made the perfect start against Freddie Jacobsen, a quarry who the American would have known was of the ‘tough’ breed of golfer, the sort of player who makes the most of every round he plays. Birdie, birdie, eagle was good enough for three up after four and despite a 6 at the 8th, Campbell was 5 up after 10 and looking in control. |
