Golf News - Warwickshire players doing really well. |
 |
|
Most Juniors aspire to become professionals from the moment they start to play the game with any sort of talent but at an early age, some attract lots of attention. Sam Walker was one such player and on Sunday 9th July, he took his first European Challenge Tour title (the Scottish Challenge Tour Championship), having been a 12 year old who was taking on and beating players twice his size. At the England U16s last week, Daniel Bardsley (Moor Hall) did very well firstly by being Top 10 after 36 and then posting a very respectable 307, a few shot behind the (very small) winner Oscar Sharpe from Gloucs.

Our County had another player at the event and bar one nine holes, it could have been a fantastic 48 hours for Coventry Finham member Ben Bernamont.

How Graham helped Warwickshire that year is much of why we succeeded this and these are the words of your Captain in describing this year's qualification -

U16s - Leicestershire take revenge |
| Sunday 25th June 2006 - Ingon Manor GC This report comes just 24 hours after the success of our Men's team in qualifying for the 006 County Championship finals. Playing today for Warwickshire, under the guidance of Dick Ferry and Antony Gascoigne, were players who in 8-10 years could be the golfers who represent, and win, for Warwickshire at the highest level. The result, against the County Warwickshire beat by six shots yesterday, was a narrow in for the visitors.
