GOLF NEWS - The County Team Championships and lots more
This week sees the Centenary Mens Matchplay Championship take place at Copt Heath, with one of the strongest all round fields in its recent history as the draw includes nearly all the best of the younger Warwickshire golfers. The eight players involved qualified from the Centenary Warwickshire Amateur as did Maxstoke Park GC (pictured) for the English Club Championship - the full results of teams from the Amateur is available plus a poster for club notice boards on last week's Midland League matches.
Big first win for 2nds in 2006
Robin Hood GC - Sunday 4th June 2006 - Nick Clifford led his 2nds team to an impressive and big first win of the 2006 Midland League season against the very strong side of Nottinghamshire The day started with a 4-2 win in the foursome and it got even better in the afternoon -
Our Young side comes unstuck
Sunday 4th June - Notts GC - Midland League 1st team match vs Notts. The Centenary Mens Matchplay & Bainbridge
This feature includes the draw for the Mens Matchplay and the revised Bainbridge for 2006 (with virutally all the first round matches complete). The Mens Matchplay is played on Firday 9th June and the Final on Sunday 11th June. Spectators are very welcome on both days.
One shot from glory
Our superb Junior team, after the inspiration of coming so close at last years County Championships finals, were tantalisingly close to a return to the premier team competition for Juniors in England. It all came down to a hatful of chances, spread over the whole team of six, for a crucial putt to drop as we lost by just once shot to the 2004 qualifiers Shropshire & Herefordshire!
