Warwickshire Amateur Championship – 1st Round Report. There could have been some very good scoring on a perfect morning for golf, had players held together some bursts of very impressive scoring. Gareth Jenkins (Kenilworth) was –6 after 10 holes and with two par fives to come, was looking at a mid 60s round.

The 2005 Amateur - Draw
This is the draw for the 2005 Warwickshire Amateur Championship, to be held at Robin Hood Golf Club on 26th May. Play starts from 8am off both tee for the 1st Round and from 1pm for the 2nd Round. The trophies for the day will include the Nett and the Team championships.

Sunday 1st May 2005 - Away at Hagley, Warwickshire Juniors were impressive 9.5 to 5.5 winners against Worcestershire. There was no come down after the record success in the 4 Counties the weekend before although the morning foursomes were halved and Boys Captain Andy Sullivan continued his winnings singles run with another point by a big margin.

To win three times in this annual team competition between Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Staffordshire and Gloucestershire has only been accomplished by two teams. In the first four years of the competition, Gloucs won four years in succession. 2005 saw Warwickshire with a chance to set a record that may never be beaten and watched by many of the people who have developed our successful juniors sides of the past five years, and beyond, that fifth win in a row was taken.
