The Final of the 2005 HSBC World Matchplay - Both players in the 2005 World Matchplay Final went to the first tee of the final, exhorting how they had found mental fortitude in all that they had accomplished in 2005. For Campbell gone was the 'brother' he saw in the mirror pre 05, and for McGinley a slow and steady start at the beginning of his career was now coming to fruition. |

| The 2005 Open will be played at Edgbaston GC on Tuesday 20th September and this editorial includes the full start sheet. There are two recent past Champions playing (both professionals) and despite the withdrawal of Matt Cryer through EGU commitments, there are some very much in-form amateurs who could possibly end the run of Pro wins.

Juniors News - Sullivan is Champion of Champions |

At Kirby Muxloe GC, on Sunday 11th September, Andy Sullivan took his last major Junior Championship by winning the Midland Junior Champions Tournament - with some incredible scoring. Andy, together with all the rest of our very successful 2005 Junior Team, will play possibly their last match this Saturday - and for many it will be a final taste of Junior Golf.

Cryer and Steele take honours |
| Matt Cryer returned from his first Home Internationals with 4 points as his contribution to the 21.5 from the 10 man England team who came second in the 2005 Championships, whilst on Saturday 10th September, in some very wet conditions, Rob Steele retained his Howitt Bowl title at North Warwickshire.

Midland League 2005 - Match 4 vs Worcs away at Worcestershire Golf and County Club - The mornings foursomes finished 4-2 in Warks favour aganist a young Worcester side. There were good wins for Mark Davies & Tom Webber 3&1, Gary Cooper & Ian Stranks 4&3, Nick Clifford & Malcolm Shepherd also 3&1 and then Neville Gardner & Pete Clarke making a solid par down 18 for a 2up victory.  |

Warwickshire bag a comeback win |
| Midland League 2005 - 1st Team - Match 4 vs Worcs - Maxstoke Park GC - Sunday 4th September. County Captain Andy Kearns put six Maxstoke members into the 1st Team for this match, a must win if Warwickshire are to have a chance of retaining the Midland League title, and the gamble - albiet a small one as all those playing are always under consideration - paid off, but only through in the singles. |
