Rain and more rain for the Seniors 6s
For the first County6s for Seniors, the heavens opened, lightning was ever present and our Team, lead by Captain John Duncombe, were a very creditable 4th place. The MGU only managed to play this first ever championship between the 10 Midland Counties over 9 holes as it was all that the weather would allow - for John Madden, 18 might have produced a very good score.
Two in a row for Stafford
Round 1 and Ben Stafford was 1 down with two to play against Adam Gray in a very high quality U21s and Boys Matchplay for 2004 (virtually no-one was missing from the Top 16). The Defending Champion's answer - to birdie the very tough 17th and then hit the sort of approach Harborne member's dream of at their monster par 3 18th, to 4ft. This sort of recovery summed up Ben's two early matches ...
Tatton REALLY enjoys his Senior Golf.
Warwickshire Seniors 2004 at Nuneaton GC – Monday 16th August. For Geoff Tatton, playing for the Warwickshire Seniors Team has made his golf in his 50s. Geoff appreciates the warmth and camaraderie at the matches, a thought which was echoed by John Stubbings, Secretary for the last time at a Seniors Championships, watching the George Stubbings Salver being handed over to the 2004 Champion Tatton, a fellow Moor Hall Member.

Sant hits the double
North Warks GC – Tuesday 3rd August 2004. A year ago to the day, Jack Sant (at aged 13) stated he wanted to emulate Paul Broadhurst in winning the Warwickshire U15s two years in succession. It was a positive message that Jack has carried with him since as he progresses rapidly through the ranks of Warwickshire Junior Golf and today; he lived up to his word with a score of 2 under par for the 27 holes of the Championship.
A Big (and very important) win
Beeston Fields – Sunday 1st August. Captained (for the afternoon at least) by Graham Hargreaves, Warwickshire took on Notts 1st team with only a win enough to keep our County very much in contention for the Midland League title for 2004. The team include a debut for the ‘star’ of Midland Junior golf, Andy Sullivan as well as a place for a very tired (see additional feature) Chris Evans.
