Young Brains beat Old Bones
Warwickshire were represented in the annual match between the Oxford University Ladies and ESLGA, which took place recently at Southfield GC, Oxford. Shelagh Murray from Stratford-on-Avon GC was part of the ESLGA team which came close to a victory against the Young Brains .
English Ladies’ Golf Association News for February
Seven of the top English players are to take part in the Sherry Cup European Nations Championship, 24 - 27 March 2004 to be held at Real Club de Golf Sotogrande. The Spanish are expecting a strong field, with the ballot set at 1.9. Kerry Smith (Waterlooville), Sara Garbutt (Ganton) and Naomi Edwards (Ganton) have been selected by ELGA to represent England in the Sherry Cup Team competition.
England Girl wins major championship
England Under 15 Champion Florentyna Parker has become the first British girl to win at the world?s biggest junior tournament. The 14-year-old claimed her victory at the Doral-Publix Junior Classic in Miami, which attracts hundreds of youngsters from all over the world.
ELGA win CONGU handicapping support at the AGM
The English Ladies’ Golf Association (ELGA) held their 51st Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Queen’s Hotel, Leeds, on the 4 December 2003. In excess of 360 ladies (and a hand full of men) were present to witness proceedings. The resolutions proposed by the Ladies’ Golf Union (LGU) to approve amendments to the rules of the Ladies’ Golf Union included the change from the LGU Handicapping System to the CONGU Unified Handicapping System.
