The 2004 Boys Country 10s – would Warwickshire win? |
In 2001, Warwickshire last qualified for the Country finals with a team boasting Juniors of the calibre of Rob Steele, John Wetton and the like. This year’s team was of equal possible status but with five scores to count from each of two rounds, and the best juniors in the Midlands to contend against, it would be a tough task. Would the ‘Fat Lady sing’ for our County? |

Its Cryer’s Amateur – Jak’s back and Ladbrook take the team title |
Over a very well set-up and prepared Ladbrook Park golf course, a field of 80 of Warwickshire’s best contested the 2004 Amateur Championship trying to win the most prestigious title the County has …. and one Matt Cryer (Coventry) had been waiting for (and wanting) for a long time. As the best handicap in the County (and part of the England Teams set-up), Matt was the favourite and after an opening 68 he was in great position to take his first Amateur. |
